Josh is a School Safety Technical Assistance Specialist. He brings specialized experience in emergency management, physical security, and behavioral threat assessment strategies for the K-12 and junior college audiences.

The National Prevention Science Coalition (NPSC) is a professional association dedicated to translating scientific knowledge into effective and sustainable programs and policies to enhance the well-being of children, families and communities. The Prevention Matters Podcast is the official podcast of the National Prevention Science Coalition. In episode 8, the JPRC Director, Anthony Petrosino, was featured. Dr. Robert LaChausse, podcast host, asks Anthony about his career studying violence prevention, the effectiveness of Scared Straight programs, how to best prevent youth violence, and his favorite cop movie.
Curtis Herring and Shawna White (pictured) from the JPRC School Safety team traveled to Maine in October 2023 to provide a school-based behavioral threat assessment awareness presentation to faculty from Biddeford, Dayton, and Saco schools as part of our BJA STOP Act grant with the Maine Department of Education. Three well-attended and well-received sessions were held covering the purpose of behavioral threat assessment, the model being implemented in the schools, and the various roles of faculty, parents, students, and community members in helping to keep schools safe. The work in Maine is part of a growing portfolio of projects with local, regional, and state educational agencies to address violence and increase safety.
The JPRC and our partners at Muflehun presented at former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords’ Community Violence Intervention conference on June 26th. Pictured are Adnan Ansari (Muflehun), Shaun Ali (JPRC), Congresswoman Giffords, Humera Khan (Muflehun), and Kerwin Henderson (JPRC). They launched a new tool for assisting agencies with advancing data-informed violence prevention, the Violence Prevention Navigation Framework. Jeff is a Senior Lead in School Safety in the Justice and Prevention Division. He is the former Associate Director of School Safety Readiness at the Texas School Safety Center, where he was involved in the creation and implementation of statewide initiatives for school safety.
