Curtis Herring and Shawna White (pictured) from the JPRC School Safety team traveled to Maine in October 2023 to provide a school-based behavioral threat assessment awareness presentation to faculty from Biddeford, Dayton, and Saco schools as part of our BJA STOP Act grant with the Maine Department of Education. Three well-attended and well-received sessions were held covering the purpose of behavioral threat assessment, the model being implemented in the schools, and the various roles of faculty, parents, students, and community members in helping to keep schools safe. The work in Maine is part of a growing portfolio of projects with local, regional, and state educational agencies to address violence and increase safety.
