The JPRC continues its decade-long partnership with the American Institutes for Research (AIR) and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services to study and evaluate the Commonwealth’s cornerstone statewide violence prevention initiative—the Safe and Successful Youth Initiative (SSYI). Past newsletters and the project landing page have highlighted this work and SSYI’s positive impact on clients and communities over the years. Based on this evidence, SSYI has been classified as a promising program by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Crime Solutions clearinghouse. WestEd will work closely with AIR to examine the role that outreach and case management staff play in the lives of the clients and communities they serve and how these relationships are associated with improved outcomes. Research teams will work with state partners to develop and pilot a monitoring system aimed at supporting implementation sites in a continuous quality improvement process.
