In “An Evaluation of a Statewide Approach to the Prevention and Intervention of Violence Using School Threat Assessment Teams,” our researchers partnered with Texas State University’s School Safety Center to conduct process and impact evaluations of an initiative to roll out multidisciplinary threat assessment practices across Texas schools. Because the trainings were implemented statewide, the researchers used a quasi-experimental matched comparison design to examine disciplinary experiences between high schools that demonstrated a high level of implementation adherence in the behavioral threat assessment model to a comparison set of high schools that demonstrate a low level of implementation adherence. Outcomes include exclusionary discipline rates, serious behavioral issues, and student achievement. A multi-site case study is also being conducted to deepen understanding of local implementation.”
