The Campus Shield program allows Miami-Dade (FL) County Public Schools to proactively respond to potential criminal incidents using data sharing of multiple data sources and tips, thereby improving school climate.
This data infusion center pulls together data streams from various school district sources, local jurisdictions, and state and federal sources to identify potential threats to school safety, including criminal gang activities, weapon-related violence, and mental health issues among students.
Researchers from the WestEd Justice & Prevention Research Center are assessing the quality of the information generated, how it was used to improve school safety, and how it impacted student behavioral outcomes.
Research and evaluation findings will be available following the study’s completion date in December 2017.
